F-5-16 Requirements for applying for a green card
The F-5-16 green card can be applied for by F-2-7 visa holders. All of the following conditions must be met
1. length of stay
- – Staying in Korea for more than 3 years in F-2-7 visa status
- – You must not have a history of working in a sexually oriented business that is against the social order.
2. income/asset requirements (optional)
- – Income for the year prior to the date of application is 2 times GNI
- – Or 1.5 times your average net worth for the previous year
3. KIIP (optional)
- – Certificate of Completion of Level 5 of KIIP
- – Or a passing score on the comprehensive assessment for permanent residence (60 or higher)
4. Good behavior: Overseas criminal background certificate
- – Exempt if previously submitted
F-5-16 Spouse and children of permanent residents
1. spouse’s eligibility to apply for permanent residence (F-5-18)
- – Hold an F-2-71 and be in Korea for at least two years in a married relationship
- – The spouse with a green card must have already obtained an F-5-16 visa two years ago
- – Remain married (no divorce or common-law marriage) through the date of the decision.
- – Have not been employed in a non-professional or hospitality lndustry within the past year.
2. your child’s eligibility to apply for a green card (F-5-18)
- – minor child with an F-2-71 and have been in Korea for more than two years with a family relationship.
- – The father or mother must have already obtained an F-5-16 visa two years ago
- – Be a minor under civil law as of the date of application
- – The scored permanent resident (F-5-16) has custody and control by the adjudication decision date
- – Not be a multi-national with South Korean citizenship
